Students vote is a nationally run federal election for students that will work parallel to the full Federal Election which ends on October 19th, 2015.
Students in the student's vote campaign will learn what it means to live in a democracy and the importance of participating as an involved citizen. Their votes will be tallied and reported as part of the national vote by the young people of Canada. The results of our vote will be reported during the election results on October 19th.
At Mealy Mountain Collegiate we have a large number of the social studies and Career Development classes enrolled in the program, meaning our school will be represented as a polling station during the election.
The goal of this program is give our young people a better understanding and an appreciation of democracy in Canada, so that they will choose to be active citizens when their time comes.
