What is Computer Programming?
There have been many different programming languages used over the years. Here are just some of them...
The difference between most of these languages is how easy they are to read, being how close they seem to regular English. High level languages are the easiest to read but are usually less powerful for creating programs. High level programming languages include Pascal, Fortran and of course BASIC, which was one of the first languages made. Seeing that computer programmers always love a good Acronym, BASIC stands for Beginners All-purpose Systematic Instruction Code.
Currently Python is considered the most popular language for beginners to learn and Java is considered the best overall computer language. No matter which language you end up working with there are some basic structures of any language that should be understood, and which we will learn about as we learn to program.

Enter the Matrix.....Computer programming looks nothing like the matrix from the movie. No person would be able to read computer Binary code at the speed that instructions flow through the CPU.
In order for the computer to understand the instructions that you give it, a program called an Assembler or Compiler has to translate your program code into Machine Language. |
