Career Development is a manditory course for all students graduating from Newfoundland and Labrador. The course is designed to all students to explore options for their career path after completing high school, whether that includes university, technical or trades school, or a direct entry into the work force. Students will explore and gain knowledge of what will be expected of them as full time workers in our society.
An important part of becoming an active citizen is the involvement in community programs and voluntarism. As part of this course, students are expected to volunteer a minimum of 30 hours of their time to some community based group. This could mean helping out with the kids club at your local church or caring for the animals at the S.P.C.A.; any non-profit group in town that you feel could use your help. Students have until June of their graduation year in order to complete and submit their hours, but remember this: Without getting the full 30 hours recorded, you cannot get credit for this course, and you will not graduate.
